Significant Success

Long Close is an independent co-educational school and nursery for ages 2 to 16. The Jigsaw PSHE scheme has made a major difference to PSHE at Long Close Primary. Like many schools, previously PSHE was relatively well planned but the plans were fairly disjointed and the subject undervalued. With the arrival of the Jigsaw resources, however, teachers became invigorated and much more enthusiastic about the subject and the children absolutely love it.

Impact of Jigsaw

The Jigsaw characters make a huge difference to both teachers and children, as they remind us that PSHE is an enjoyable and important subject both to teach and to learn. The characters in our school have been so well liked that they often come out for general discussions outside of PSHE lessons! The Assemblies are also highly engaging and demand real enquiry and participation from the children.

Additionally, the Jigsaw schemes of work are meticulously planned and extremely effective. The time which is required in terms of preparation is more than worth the excellent results and the sheer joy which the children show before, during and after Jigsaw lessons are taught. The activities are multi-faceted and stimulating for
the teachers and the children, and they encourage truly open conversations and exploration of difficult topics.

Most importantly, I feel that the Mindfulness aspect of Jigsaw and the chimes are extremely important in school settings. The chimes are so exquisitely made and effective that, at our school, a huge number of parents have purchased one to use at home. Many of the children in my class remind their parents to sit down in the evenings to meditate to the sound of the chime!

Looking forward

Jigsaw has made the children and teachers really enjoy PSHE as a subject and it has made consideration of the highly important topics covered a top priority.

This is a true accolade and I would highly recommend the Jigsaw package to any PSHE Co-ordinator at another school.
